I’ve had many late nights lately and as I sit here listening to the washer working its magic, with my sick daughter laying next to me, I’ve decided to start ‘journaling’ my life. I have lived a pretty crazy life in my short 32 years here on Earth so far. I have had many struggles and many blessings (my two children). Life is definitely not easy, but there are always people going through harder struggles.
I’ve dedicated this year (2017) to being a stronger person and finding ‘me’ again.
So, this is me:
My name is Jen and I am a ripe old 32. Don’t let that number trick ya! I’ve had a handful of back surgeries already. I stay very busy with two awesome kiddos who I wouldn’t trade for the world itself! They both play hockey and there is nothing I love more than watching them. The three of us travel a lot, almost every weekend from October until March. I LOVE this time we have together! My son is 11 and is on the peewee team and my daughter just turned 9 and on the 8U team (her birthday is right past the cutoff of Dec 31…if you know hockey, you understand this). This is truly what is my life currently.
I am married; however, I feel so alone. My husband is an alcoholic. Tomorrow will be my first day of attending an Al-Anon meeting. I am very much looking forward to it. More on this to follow.
I am a Canadian citizen, American permanent resident. Yes, I am legal, I have a green card allowing me to reside and work in the United States. This makes things difficult with all my family being in Canada (mostly Eastern Canada) and living in the Western United States. I am very much homesick and having a loving, supportive family so far away really pulls at my heart. Lacking a support system here hurts me for my children. There is nothing I would love more than for them to experience having an aunt or uncle, or a stand in grandparent.
I am new to the blogging world, but excited to share my story. I hope to inspire others to take control of their lives and push forward. You only have one life!
